Rest In Peace... Glyn Pickering

It is with immense sadness that Prestatyn Cricket Club announce the sudden and unexpected death of their Treasurer and Management Committee Colleague, Glyn Pickering ,during the night of October 24/25th at home.

Glyn was a popular and well respected Man and Treasurer at PCC, but he was also a Town Councillor in Rhyl and an ex-Mayor of Rhyl also. He committed himself to furthering the development of the town ,and also sat on the Board of Governors at both Ysgol Mair and Blessed Edward Jones RC High Schools.

Glyn had only recently in the past month taken early retirement from Harold Smith Accountants and was recovering from an operation at home.

The Treasurers post in any cricket club is one of the most important roles and without a Treasurer to account for all the monies etc a club cannot function.

Glyn Pickering leaves an immense hole in the life of everyone at PCC. He was known to us all for his total efficiency at keeping our accounts and books up to date and also for his humour when we requested any cheques to be written out, clutching the cheque book to his chest.! He was also a very shrewd man who always told us exactly how we stood financially, and how to plan long term.

To say Glyn will be sorely missed is an understatement. Glyn was not the tallest of men as he liked to joke about, but we will miss this giant of a man whose intelligence, wit and humour brought those who knew him such joy in his relatively short life.Glyn was not married, but our thoughts and prayers are with his Mother and Family at this sad time.

Rest In Peace Glyn.. from us all at Prestatyn Cricket Club x

He was taken without any warning,

His going left hearts filled with pain;
But though he is gone from amongst us,
In our hearts he will always remain.
